Writer: Dillon Jordan Tann
Have you ever encountered problems like where to have your breakfast/lunch especially tea break? Well if you do, you came to the right spot! You got to admit that we Sabahans are very fussy when it comes to the matter related to “FOOD” especially when you are STARVING!
I’ve been roaming around KK city searching for the best Kopitiams to chillax during your tea time break and below are the chosen ones you would like to check them out!
1. KEDAI KOPI CHE YEW SUN @ LIDO PENAMPANG
The first coffee shop I would like to introduce to you guys is Kedai Kopi Che Yew Sun located at Lido! This Kopitiam is really famous among the senior citizens as this Kopitiam is one of the oldest one in town! Many youngsters nowadays (including me) may not know about this Kopitiam because they like to stick to what they know thus this Kopitiam is really underrated as well. We’re all creatures of habit, but it’s time for us to break out of that! This Kopitiam really has a lot to offer for your tea time break cravings. One of their signature drink is their Hailam coffee that will DEFINITELY make anyone come back for more, like seriously. It is best to have your Hailam coffee with kaya & butter toast/roti kahwin & half boiled eggs!

If you’re not a fan of coffee then fret not, they also serve Teh C Ping/Iced Teh C And most importantly, the drinks and toast bread they serve are REALLY reasonable too! It would really help save your wallet’s burden, I promise 😉

2. 33 BAKERY / KEDAI KOPI 33 (2) LINTAS, KOTA KINABALU

I know that many of us Sabahans are a BIG fan of pastries. From butter buns, hot dogs, croissants you name it! You got to admit that we just LOVE having our pastries accompanied with a hot cup of Kopi O / Teh Tarik. We will usually visit a bakery located in our neighborhood but many of us have forgotten that there’s this certain coffee shop in Lintas that sells one of the best Pineapple buns/Bolo Buns in town! Don’t know what a Bolo bun is? Here’s a little info about it, a Pineapple bun/Bolo bun is a kind of sweet bun predominantly popular in Hong Kong and Canada. It is known in Cantonese as bo lo bau, in which bo lo means “pineapple”, and bau refers to a kind of bun-like item in Chinese cuisine or locals call it as “BOLO BUN”.

The bolo buns sold in this coffee shop will be baked fresh every day! It will also be stored inside a warmer to keep it’s warmness and freshness. And did I mention, the contain of the bolo buns is seriously OUT OF THIS WORLD! One bolo bun is really not enough for one individual. So if you have a sweet tooth, then I would really suggest you drop by and try it yourself! And by the way, it’s only RM 1.90 for one piece of bolo bun!

Kedai Kopi Kheng Hin is located at Foh Sang. This coffee shop is really famous for its wide range of delicacies that you can find here! Locals will usually hang out here during their tea time break for their steamed buns /Pau, Penang Fried Kuey Teow and Satay!

One of the main reason why you should visit this coffee shop during your tea time break is because the paus they sell here are prepared fresh daily.
