Located on the ground floor, besides the lobby of Stripes KL, the latest Autograph Selection Hotel is Brasserie 25, a charming French restaurant with red bricks arcade, mid-century copper sputnik chandeliers, dark wooden floor with a matching open kitchen and furniture. The natural lighting brightens up the beautiful interior and creating a comfortable ambiance for the diners.
le goûter
Instead of the popular English high tea, Stripes KL offers le goûter – a late afternoon snack, popular as an after school treat for children in France. Le goûter at Stripes KL is priced at RM60 per pax which includes unlimited refill of tea/coffee and food. They are currently running an opening promotion of buy one free one which means RM60 for two persons.
We start with savory snacks which are inspired by Malaysia.
Next, we were served with sweet pastries like Tiramisu, mousse cakes, fruit tarts, Meringue, Macarons and Cheesecakes. The friendly waiters are always going around making sure we get to taste all the pastries.
My favorites are Rasberry macarons and Strawberry tart. This must be one of the best places for afternoon tea time with the wonderful selection of pastries.
Dinner at Brasserie 25
We were back again for dinner at Brasserie 25. We can see the chefs in the open kitchen preparing our food carefully. The Menu is simple offering casual French foods.
For our entrees, we start with Foie Gras Poele (RM50) – Pan Seared Foie Gras with warm onion marmalade and spice bread. The Foie Gras pan fried to perfection, leaving unique sensation in my mouth as my tastebuds take in this richness and the unique texture practically dissolves in my mouth. Wonderful!
Camembert Roti Au Four (RM40) – Baked Camembert black truffle french toast chips
Escargots (Rm40)- baked burgundy escargot with garlic herb butter
For my plats principal, we had Joue De Boeuf Braisee (RM120)- Braised beef cheek in red wine, carrot, mushroom, pearl onion and mashed potatoes. They are so meltingly tender, you can eat it with a spoon
Poulet Roti – Roasted chicken, sauteed mushroom, winter vegetables, mashed potato. The portion is big and the skin is crispy.
We had Grand Marnier souffle with vanilla ice cream to end our wonderful French meal at Brasserie 25. This simple souffle is so simple yet taste so good. A waiting time of 20 minutes is required upon order as the souffle is only prepared upon order and served hot.
Brasserie 25 is a great place for casual French dining. The wonderful ambiance, stylish interior, and great food make it a memorable dining experience to us.
* Brasserie 25 open for lunch, tea time and dinner. Lunch and Dinner menu are the same. Tea time from 3pm to 6pm.
