Various café in Kota Kinabalu and it still continues to grow every year. The selection of coffee shop with its own unique design of concept never failed to amaze the locals and attract them to discover these cafes. Each café in Sabah offers selection types of coffee, non-coffee drinks and signature of dishes that allows KKian and tourists (too) to explore the different type of cafe each time. With each areas consisting of at least 2 cafes, it gives the local the opportunity to hop from one cafe to another cafe each day! Here are the 12 café with brief descriptions of their coffee shop and the rest of the summary lists of cafes in Kota Kinabalu are listed after the 12 café description:
1985.coffee (Plaza 333)
1985.coffee is located at Plaza 333 above pick and pay. Started with a warm greeting from the barista and they offered various types of coffee and non-coffee. The ice chocolate is the famous selection of drinks and apart from that, various type of pastries is served. Slowly, they are upgrading their menu and recently serving 2 types of breakfast and Fat chicken (Nasi lemak). Their business hour starts from 11am until 11pmand closed every Monday
Garage Kate (Penampang Bypass)
Garage Kate is located at Penampang highway bypass and it is easily found because of their striking design, a combination of hipster and garage concept. It was recently opened mid of 2016. The famous dishes in Garage Kafe will be Chicken chop which cost RM15.90 and variety of overload drinks for the visitor to choose. Besides that, guests are welcome to do a private function such a birthday party or a reunion with a maximum of 30 pax in the air conditioning room. Business hour open from 11am until 11pm and closed every Monday
Haus Café (Marketplace 88)
Haus Café is a small café located at Market 88. The concept of the café is rustic and hipster combination of interior design. The signature dish is Tamaha All-Day Breakfast which includes beans, scramble egg, ham, sausages, toasts and Super delicious creamy mushroom for RM18.00 In fact, board games are provided too! Haus Café would normally collaborate with those who wish to use their space for a function purpose. Business hour open from 9am until 5pm and closed every Sunday
Chiu’s – The Modern Local (Marketplace 88)
A humble eatery trying to achieve great things. Chiu’s Serve simple comfort food in a comfortable environment. The foods is creatively curated using locally sourced ingredients. Serve good coffee and desserts. Businesss hours is from 10am to 11pm. Closed on Tuesday
Ice Dream Cafe (Lido Plaza)
Known for their local homemade Wide range of Gelato and ice cream. Despite that, the all-day breakfast and waffle menu are their specialties. Waffle is included with the selection of a scoop of gelato or ice cream. Ice meal breakfast is the top selection from the menu. Besides serving coffee and non-coffee, fresh juices are available as well. Ice cream open 7 days a week (Mon – Thurs: 10am – 11pm, Fri – Sat: 10am – 12am and Sun: 10am – 1030pm) and located at Lido Plaza First Floor.
The B Side (Lido Plaza)
Located at Lido Plaza ground floor with a sophisticated design that will definitely catch the locals attention to come in. Famous for their coffee and food, B-side continues to expand their menu from time to time without failed. The fresh smell of their coffee brews what makes most coffee drinker to be coming back for more. Apart from serving, coffee classes are conducted at B-side.
Business hour starts at 10am until 11pm every Tuesday until Friday and 9am- 12am every Sat and Sunday. Closed every Monday
La Dolce Cafe (Lido Plaza)
Was once located at Lintas Plaza and moved to Lido Plaza for better and bigger space. Big Breakfast and cappuccino would be a great recommendation for the first timer who visited La Dolce Café. They served good macaron that keeps the local coming back for more. The design of the place is nice and suitable to held group discussion. Business hour open from 10am until 10pm and closed every Sunday.
* Other café to explore at Lido plaza are B.E.A.N Factory which is a non-halal place as they served pork, Teddy n Me that is known for its all size Teddy bears and Furball Heaven that is suitable for dogs lover to come and visit this place as it is always full with cute furball babies that will melt your heart away.
Cana Café (Taman Fortuna)
Cana Café is located at Taman Fortuna and it is easily spotted because that is the only café at that area. Besides serving coffee, they offer a different type of healthy juices. The specialties at Cana Café will be their waffle and latte that goes perfectly fine together. In fact, the cupcakes éclair are one of the customer’s favorite options to choose. Business hour open from 8am until 10pm and closed every Sunday.
PurrfectplaceKK Café (Inanam)
Indeed a purrfect place for cat lovers to enjoy their moment petting numerous of cat and enjoy their coffee or non-coffee drinks. RM15 administration fee will be charged for customers who wish to enter the cat playground and play with the cats but, the fee comes with one drink. Besides these adorable cats, they offer various type of coffee such as Mocha, Latte, Cappucino and other more. They food specialties will be the ice cream waffle and it tastes amazing! PurrfectplaceKK is located at Inanam Taipan they open 7 days a weeks from 11am until 10pm.
Gateau House (Shell Plaza)
Gateau House is located at Shell Plaza. They are famous for their cakes and pastries specialty. They serve various range of coffee that will make you keep coming back for more. Apart from serving coffee and pastries, they do served Asian and Western type of food. Besides that, the design of their counter is very unique that it could attract new customers easily.
* Other café to explore at Imago will be Pregio Coffee where they are indeed famous for their coffee and food selection. Pregio Coffee does have another branch which is located beside BSA court, Kolombong.
The Coffee Lab (Taman Soon Kiong)
Don’t be deceived by its outer design because of the signboard names Frankie Interior Design, Coffee lab is located there. Of all the café, Coffee Lab interior design will be the most outstanding among all. It’s a mixture of modern with a rustic type of concept. They served all range of food such as western, Asian, dessert and good coffee. But of all the food they served, vanilla mango ice cream will be most customers’ favorite selection. Business hour open from 8.30am until 10.30 and closed every Sunday
October Coffee House (Latitud 6, Peak Vista and Gaya Street)
October Coffee House located at 3 locations which is Peak Vista, Gaya Street and Jalan Signal Hills. October Coffee house popular with their coffee and coffee art. They do serve light dish such as waffle!

RusticStone Kitchen & Coffee Bar well-known mostly with their coffee and non-coffee drinks. Open 7 days a week 9am- 2.30pm and 5pm – 10pm
Omma’s Oven famous with their fresh pastries and served with coffee. Open 9am – 10pm (close on Friday)
The Cottage Café serve excellent brew coffee and famous for their shepherd’s pie. Open Monday – Saturday 10am – 6pm and closed every Sunday
Hilltop Area
Haru café serve all-day brunch and nice coffee. Open 7 days a week (Mon – Sat: 8.30am – 11pm and Sun: 10.00am – 11.00pm)
Damai Area
Adelphi and Co. specialize with their western menu and House Blend coffee. Open 7 days a week from 9am until 10pm
Joe Sun Up to date menu and breakfast menu. Open 7 days a week from 7am until 10pm
Breadboss Bakery café well-known with its fresh pastries and fresh brew coffe. Open 7 days a week (Mon – Fri: 3.30am until 11pm, Sat: 8.30am – 6pm and Sun: 8.30am – 11pm)
Tanjung Aru Area
Inch Café Located inside Perdana park, inch cafe Specialise in Coffee. Open every Tuesday until Sunday from 2pm – 10pm
The Crown’s Coffee Corner a simple cafe at the ground floor of Crown Hotel, Tanjung Aru town. Serve good coffee and simple food
Jalan Dewan (Kota Kinabalu City area)
Workshop coffee decorates its coffee shop with art. Open from 8am – 10pm except on Thursday
Woo! Open 7 days a week from 9.30amuntil 11.30pm
Biru-Biru is a backpacker type of café that attracts not only local but tourist. Served various types of local dishes and coffee. Open 7 days a week from 8am until 11.30pm
Nook café famous with their coffee. Open 7 days a week (9am until 11pm)
Print Cafe A printing cafe where you can relax and have a cup of coffee while waiting for your printing.
Gaya Street Area (Kota Kinabalu City area)
CAFE ON FIFTY5 Cafe on Fifty 5 attached to Tong Hing Supermarket. Wide variety of pastries and cakes. They also offer good quality western foods. Their signature dish is the Boneless Hainanese Chicken rice. Open 7 days a week 8am to 10.30pm
Grabbing Hands café Famous with their hot dog menu along with coffee. Open 7 days a week (Sunday – Thursday: 12pm- 11pm and Friday – Saturday: 12pm – 12am
Pang’s Coffee Specialty in coffee, above all else, is enchanting.At first sip, a glint of something special fascinates the palate, then offers more at the next few sips. Open 10.30am to 10pm (close on Monday)
Bandaran Berjaya Area
Ampersand Specialty Coffee & Co-workplace – Specialty cafe and workspace at the old area of Kota Kinabalu area. Ampersand offers a cosy and spacious environment for travelers and place for people to meet-up. Open 2pm to 1opm (Tuesday to Friday), 11am to 10pm (Saturday), 10am to 6pm (Sunday). Close on Monday.
Api Api Center
Kingfisher Area
Kak Kiah Coffee House popular with it home-made cake and cake jar. Open 9am – 10pm and closed every Sunday
Cornerstone café Open Monday until Friday (11.30am – 8pm) and Saturday (12.30pm -6pm) and closed every Sunday
Bunkers café is a café concept with jamming that serve coffee. Open 7 days a week from 10am until 10pm

Relax Coffee Café serves good coffee and cake. Open 7 days a week from 11am until 11pm
