Planning a romantic can be tough especially then deciding part. Want to bring your partner out for a romantic dinner but not sure where to? Don’t worry; here are the few choices of restaurants that you can choose from with your preferences.
1) Peppino, Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa
Italian cuisine fine-dining restaurant located at Shangri-la Tanjung Aru resort (Lobby level) attracts not only the local but tourists who stay in Shangri-la. They served variation type of Italian meals such as pizza, pasta risotto, meat, and dessert. Upon waiting for your meal to be served, the waiter will serve mouth-watery appetizers for you that comes with caviar and few choice of bread to choose from. The specialty at Peppino Australian Lamb fillet in Thyme shallot sand creamy pasta. Besides that, the selection of wine is indeed spectacular! It operation hours starts at 6.30pm until 10.30pm and would highly recommend making a reservation because dining-in here because this restaurant is always packed with the locals and tourist. I wouldn’t be surprised as Peppino is a suitable restaurant for romantic dinner.
2) Favola, Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu
Favola is located in Le Meridien and they open daily at night from 6.30pm until 10.30pm. The small room that can occupy less than 50 pax is perfect either for a small private celebration or dinner with your partner. It is an Italian seafood cuisine restaurant that served the best-braized beef cheek in red wine. Apart from ala carte main course, they do have set dinner menu that consists of a 5-course meal with a selection of hot drinks (either illy coffee or TWG tea) for RM350nett per person. Over 60 selection of wines can choose from the wine menu, with the variation of either Italian or international wine. The environment in Favola room is gorgeous due to its contemporary design and dim lighting. Addition to it, there is an outdoor dining suitable for the couple that prefers to sit outdoor. For a recommendation of a romantic candle-light high-class type of dinner, Favola would fall as the first choices.
3) Vino-Vino Bistro
Vino-Vino Bistro is located at KK Time Square and it is a 2-story restaurant. It opens daily from 12pm until 1am. There are 2 sections of areas for you to dine which is the smoking and non-smoking area. Meanwhile, the second floor is more to a private function type of room. Although the price range at Vino-vino is quite pricey the food served are worth every cent of it. Their food specialty will be Vino-vino “surf & Turf” grilled beef tenderloin and baked king prawn for RM98. Apart from good food, they served good dessert and one of it is chocolate fondant. There are various choices of wine lists served there. If you not into a formal type of dinner but more to a casual yet romantic restaurant, I would recommend vino-vino is the best place to dine in.
4) Ferdinand’s, Magellan Sutera
Ferdinand’S Restaurant is listed as Malaysia best restaurant by Malaysia Tatler. It is located at Magellan Sutera Harbour resort, level 2. Open daily from 6.00pm and 11.00pm.The area is covered with glass and has a stunning view at night. If you want a nice view, romantic environment, served Italian dishes and have a variation of wine selection, Ferdinand is the perfect place. They will serve you appetizers upon waiting for your food and apart from that, you can enjoy the view that is facing the seaside. The food presentation is exquisitely impeccable that is equivalent to the price. Their special in the menu are risotto allo zafferano con guancia di manzo and merluzzo in bianco. The price range in Ferdinand no doubt is expensive but it will be worth spending for either anniversary dinner or romantic dinner.

5) Grandchamp’s Cave & Shop
Grandchamp is located at the Peak Vista. Upon entering the shop, you will be greeted welcome by the waiters before assisting you to your seats. There are 2 sections of the areas. The first section will be the various wine display area and the second area will be dining and wine area. The food specialty at Grandchamp’s will be Flambe French lamb rack which is enough for 2 person portion and cost RM113.50 for one meal. The design of the shop is more to contemporary French type of theme. This place is suitable for a romantic type of dinner with your loved one especially with the design of the shop! They open daily from 9.30am until 11.30pm. It is best to make a reservation before going dine-in there.

6) Meet + Wine Bistro, The Peak Vista
Meet + Wine is located at Peak Vista, Ground floor and open 5 days per week from 4pm until 10.30pm and closed every Sunday and Monday. Meet + Wine offers a great spot to meet with friends and family and enjoy great food and wine. They have a wine cellar with a wide selection of wine. Their Chef Cyrill is hail from France and some of his signature dishes are infused with local ingredients. We love the food as everything is fresh and loaded with flavor. Parking spots in the area are quite limited and so be early if you have a dinner appointment.
7) Der Master Restaurant, Delicatessen Grocer & Bar
Der Master Restaurant, Delicatessen Grocer & Bar, a new diverse mix of dining, food grocer and lively nightlife experiences in KK city. Der Master is truly a carnivore’s paradise, promising German delicacies and appetisers. Think crispy pork knuckle, heavenly sausages, bacons, hams and steak. Then pair that with excellent selection of wines or beers at good price.
Good place for happy hour and enjoy all the porky goodness. If you looking for a place to enjoy wine with food in Kota Kinabalu, Der Master is the place to be.
