Train from Taichung to Tainan took 2 hours. We checked into our room booked through Airbnb and start exploring food around Tainan. Tainan claims its name as one of the Taiwanese cultural capitals for its abundant historic monument and citizen lifestyle. The city is dotted by Taoist temples, Buddhist temples, and churches. Many of them are among the oldest in Taiwan. The city also has its own unique traditions and cuisines developed by Chinese frontiers over its long history.
Tainan is not a big city but finding food around Tainan is not easy as the eateries is scattered all around Tainan and took us 10 minutes walk from one eatery to another one. We spent our 3rd day in Tainan walking throughout the city. Tiring but worth the experience. Getting around is easy with the help of GPS and google map. Most of the location in this post is clearly tag in Google Map, the best way to look for the location is by key-in the name of the eatery and search at google map.
Day 2
福記肉圓
Tainan style meatballs are different from what you expect. The meatball looks like dumplings with pork fillings with lots of gravy. There are also “meatball” with prawn fillings serve at 福記肉圓

One of the most popular night market in Tainan. Tainan Flower night market is well organized and offered with a wide array of local Taiwan snacks, from fried chicken, grilled seafood, oyster omelet, stinky tofu to exotic snacks such as Singapore Laksa, Japanese takoyaki and sushi, Indian Teh Tarik and so on

3rd Day – Tainan
Cama Cafe
A cup of latte at Cama Cafe, Tainan to start off the day. Their motto is fresh coffee with great taste. Cost only 60NT$ One of the least expensive coffee and specialty coffee drinks. Located next to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi

Anping area
When visiting the Anping Old Fort area, visitors must take a walk through the Anping Old Street. The Anping Old Street starts near the front entrance of the Anping Old Fort and runs along Yanping Street. It is narrow and windy and is full packed with stalls and old buildings.
陳家蚵捲 (Chen Family Oyster roll)
Run by the 3rd generation of Chen Family and over 50 years old name at Anping. Famous for their oyster and shrimp roll.

4th Day
六千牛肉湯
Tainan people love to have beef soup for breakfast. One of the most popular beef soup in Tainan is 六千牛肉湯. Open at 5am daily and sold out at 10am. The place becomes crowded once it open at 5am. A simple Tainan breakfast with original beef taste. Beef soup is one of the “must eat” when in Tainan

The good thing about traveling with TRA (Taiwan Railways Authority) is they serve good Bento on the train. Bento price starts from 60NT$
