We always asked by our friends, where is the best steamboat in Kota Kinabalu. As a steamboat lover, we sadly didn’t even know any place in Kota Kinabalu which serve good steamboat. We hate steamboat buffet offering around Kota Kinabalu as the ingredient is not fresh and most importantly is does not taste good.
We were looking for place for dinner at Marketplace 88 when we saw Mookata Thai Steamboat from the main road. Being a curious foodie, we can’t resist the chance to taste the steamboat here to see if its any good
Mookata serve Thai style steamboat
“Moo” stands for pork and “kata” means skillet, a type of cooking apparatus that allow diners to enjoy both barbecue and hotpot at the same time. Mookata use pork lard instead of oil for BBQ. We ordered Economy Pork set which enough for 2 person. It come with a marinated pork ,pork belly and vegetables in bowl.
RM40 for 1 set of Economy pork set. You can add more ingredients from the menu if you want more.
After meal dessert. Taste coconut pudding. Overall we are happy with the food here and will definitely visit JM Mookata Thai BBQ steamboat again.
