Sakagura Japanese Restaurant open its door to Kota Kinabalu residents on 24th March 2015. Sakagura Japanese Restaurant is under FrontierOne group with over 10 Japanese restaurant in Japan. Sakagura Japanese Restaurant at Oceanus Mall Kota Kinabalu is the group’s first restaurant outside of Japan.
Half of the staffs are originated from Japan.
The price is slightly towards the high side compare to other Japanese restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. If you looking for an affordable Japanese meal, you better look elsewhere as Sakagura serve good quality Japanese food and use the best material available in Kota Kinabalu.
We arrived at 7pm on the first day of the opening and service was understandably slow.
teriyaki station is manned by 2 Japanese chef and the meat is nicely grilled with good combination of Japanese sauce
Fuji Fried noodle with beef
Sashimi set, my favourite is the fresh prawn. Sweet!
The master chef at his station. Best place to sit in the restaurant is at the counter where you got to see the food prepared by the chef.
chicken karaage
We also ordered a hot pot. The soup is prepared from chicken collagen. well worth it
The ambiance inside the restaurant is great and the staffs is friendly and attentive. We expect their service and waiting time to improve once they got the system fully running. Sakagura Japanese Restaurant is a great addition to Kota Kinabalu exciting Japanese restaurant scene.
The food is certainly not cheap as our bill come up to over RM700 for the dishes we ordered above but if you feel like splurging and indulge in good Japanese food, Sakagura should top in your list.
