Located at Tuaran, 40 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu city, Shangri-la Rasa Ria Resort & Spa is a perfect place for pampering and luxury. This hotel is perfect if you wish to spend a couple of days relaxing by the beach or enjoy some quiet time with your spouses
Welcome home, the staffs greet us once we step into the room. We do really feel at home when we step into our room at Ocean Wing
The arriving experience was great, The reception greets us at the entrance when we arrived and the gong is to welcome us and followed with chilled towels and welcoming drink. The check-in was smooth and efficient.
Ground floor rooms have small terraces accessible through verdant stays at Ocean Wing for my first trip. For our 2nd time stay at Ocean Wing of Shangri-la’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa, we stayed at 4th floor. The view from 4th floor is amazing overlooking pool and beach. A much private lanai, balcony complete with a private outdoor bathtub.
Special facilities and privileges include an exclusive breakfast dining venue, swimming pool, and Jacuzzi that are dedicated solely to Ocean Wing guests.
CBTL Coffee Machine with a variety of capsules in our room. Great for getting the coffee I crave in minutes.
Gorgeously-scented jar of wax burning away in the corner and a “scent menu” that personalized for ocean wing rooms with range of Lemon grass (warm and spicy yet welcome aroma) , Jasmine (Exquisitely sensual and sweet scent), Markisa(passionfruit) and Frangipani( intoxicating Tropical scent)
Abundance and diversity of activities for children and parents. The resort kept the children entertained and even educated with activities such as nature walks on the beach and Orang Utan forest, sailing, swimming in the pool, costumes, batik, pony rides, feeding animals and much more. For the adults, there are a wide variety of restaurants, golf course, massage, gym, pools, boating and many activities outside the resort including mountain climbing, white water rafting, jungle trips, markets, shopping, scuba diving and much more.
We spent our first afternoon traveling through a mangrove forest. The Mangrove River Cruise brought us around the mangroves and pass by village by the estuary.
We back to the resort just in time for the sunset.

DINNER: Naan – Flavours of India Restaurant
For our dinner, we choose Naan – Flavours of India Restaurant. The menu is extensive and caters to all tastes. We ordered “Shantanu” Mughlai Delights Naan set which comes with appetizers, 5 main courses, 2 types of Naan and Dessert.

what I like most here is the warm cheese naan dipping in different types complex gravies, the flavor is complex and just perfect. The food is so delicious and flavourful that this is hands-down the best Indian restaurant in KK.
Delicious Nasi Lemak. But is Nasi Lemak consider a Sabahan breakfast?

It’s time for some outdoor activities after a great breakfast. Start off my day enjoy Jet Skiing for the first time. I felt so special awesome…experiencing this extreme activity .
I am a professional jet skier after 5 minutes lesson!
Our next stop is the nature reserve which has been established by the Rasa Ria. There are many species of birds, monkeys, insects and reptiles live within the reserve area.

LUNCH : Oceano Italian Restaurant
After lots of walking and activities, it’s time for lunch at Oceano Italian Restaurant. Oceano is the latest restaurant at Shangri-la Rasa Ria Resort 7 Spa and they serve authentic Italian food with a lovely Sicilian touch. it has a friendly environment with attentive service.

Start with a perfect Tagliere Di Salumi antipasto platter with appealing mixture and contrasts of textures, tastes, and colors.
Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare, with slow cook octopus, squid, prawns mussels and tomato
I love all kinds of pasta, but there’s something about good ravioli that really makes my heart go pitter-pat. I love the flat area of pasta around the filling itself, and I love it when the fork finally cuts into whatever the filling happens to be. My plate of ravioli di Ricotta serves with sage and brown butter.
Tiramisu is highly recommended
After a satisfying lunch, my next activity is archery. Certainly not an easy game to master but more fun posing a photo looking serious with bow and arrow 🙂
A popular activity in at Rasa Ria is to go horse riding. Riding horses on the beach has always been on my bucket list and it was amazing! The horse and the guide were awesome.
SUNSET HOUR: Sampan Bar
Sunset time is always the most beautiful moment at Rasa Ria. We enjoy our sunset time with a sunset cocktail at the laid-back Sampan Bar which overlooks the beach before dinner.
We were entertained with the cultural lighting ceremony and performance by guitar/upright bass trio doing acoustic versions of Western classics.

DINNER: Kozan Teppanyaki
Dinner time means its time food good food. We already made our reservation at Kozan Teppanyaki the day before and we reached the restaurant at 6.30pm. We were seated around the teppanyaki Table where over the course of about an hour the chef prepares and serves the foods in front of you. With the Teppan-style, we each have a great close-up view of the chef showcasing his mastery of the flame in his teppanyaki or iron griddle.
First, the salad was served , a mixed salad with delightful sesame dressing.

Have fun experience with hibachi chefs with preparing hibachi Japanese garlic fried rice with some “egg show”. the egg stacking and balancing are astonishing, and they’ll let you try too if you wish.
After a tiring yet joyful day, Its time to spend some time at the spa to warm and loosen tight muscles with a traditional body massage. My stiff neck and sore shoulders and back felt like new when I left.
The last day at the resort and spend the morning enjoying breakfast at Oceano. Only Ocean wing guests have access to this breakfast location with a wonderful spread of pastries and foods.
What I love most are the excellent spread of bread and fresh fruit juice
My “European breakfast”, includes a selection of cheeses, cold meats, smoked salmon and smoked marlin.
